10/10/10

It's here! 10/10/10! So, is it all what it's cracked up to be?  You be the judge.


Symbolism of the Number 10

-10 was the Pythagorean symbol of perfection.

-Humans have 10 fingers and 10 toes. Counting on one's fingers probably led to our decimal number system.

-According to H.P. Blavatsky, founder of the Theosophical Center in New York City, the 1 followed by the 0 represents the column and the circle, symbolizing the male and the female.  Looked at this way, 10 can also symbolize androgyny as it incorporates both male and female elements.

-In Mayan culture, 10 is associated with the end of a cycle and the beginning of another.  10 was regarded as the number of life and death.

-The Holy Ghost descended on the Apostles 10 days after the Resurrection.

-There were 10 plagues of Egypt sent by God.

-The 10 Commandments from God to Moses.

-There are 10 generations from Adam until Noah.

-In China, men and women possess 10 souls. 3 superior souls and 7 inferior ones.

-The 10 Sibyls, or Prophetess, inspired by Apollo, who foretold  misfortune.

-The symbol for one's 10th wedding anniversary is tin.

-DJs speak of the 'top 10'.

-A beautiful woman is referred to as a 10.

-There's the Big 10 in college basketball.

-The Chinese believe that when a number appears in pairs it symbolizes good luck e.g., double happiness. In fact, the more times a lucky number is repeated one after another, the more potent the luck or good fortune.

-In numerology, 10/10/10 corresponds to a 3 the number of the Trinity in Christianity. In China, the number 3 is a homophone for their word for 'birth' and is considered good luck i.e., 3's a charm.
